JUSTxTECH

Chanda Burrage, PhD

Lead justly. Build responsibly
Helping mission-driven leaders find the gap between what their
organizations say they do — and what their systems actually do —
at the intersection of social justice, environmental equity, and
emerging technology.

About Me

I'm Dr. Chanda Burrage, founder of JUSTxTECH. My background is in geography and spatial data analysis — which means I've spent my career mapping where systems break down, and who bears the cost when they do.

Today, I work with tech founders, nonprofit leaders, and compliance teams who sense a gap between their stated values and their actual operations — especially where AI systems, data practices, or environmental decisions touch communities of color.

I built JUSTxTECH to close that gap: combining lived-experience research and spatial data with practical frameworks leaders can actually use.

How I Help

Every engagement starts with the same question: does your organization actually deliver on its values?

I evaluate that through three lenses of justice:

Distributive

Who actually benefits from your decisions, resources, and technology?

Procedural

Are your decision-making processes consistent, transparent, and legitimate?

Recognition

Whose knowledge, identity, and voice shape how your organization operates?

These three lenses are the foundation of everything below.
Modern Architecture

Justice Sprint

A 90-day engagement to find clarity - and a plan.

The Justice Sprint is a focused, 90-day consulting engagement for

leaders navigating the gap between what their organization says and

what it does. Drawing on lived-experience research and spatial data

analysis, we name what's actually happening in your organization and

community — then build the language, frameworks, and action steps to

respond.

Who it's for: Tech founders, nonprofit leaders, and compliance

managers — especially where AI systems, data practices, or

environmental decisions touch communities of color.

How it Works

1. Diagnose — A JUSTx intake assessment surfaces your highest-leverage

justice challenge, grounded in your data and community context.

2. Design — Four 60-minute sessions apply the distributive,

procedural, and recognition lenses to your situation.

3. Deploy — You leave with a concrete action plan and the language to

lead it.

Jx Index (Beta)

Know if your systems actually deliver.

The Justice Sprint is the entry point into a bigger framework: the

Jx Impact Index — a trust measurement tool that scores your

organization 0–100 across the same three dimensions (distributive,

procedural, recognition), from Extractive to Generative.

What sets it apart: scores are capped by evidence quality.

Self-reported data caps at 60. Documented evidence unlocks 61–80.

Independent verification is required for 81+ — so when a funder,

regulator, or partner asks "says who?", the answer is built in.

The Jx Index is currently in beta, opening in three tiers:

Tier 1 — Justice Sprint™ (entry assessment, available now — see

above)

Tier 2 — Full Jx Evaluation (deep audit + roadmap)

Tier 3 — Training & Licensing (embed the framework internally)
